For 8 consecutive weeks, Kanakna crews were (discretely) omni-present to record everyday life in this fascinating environment. The audience grew to know and love 'larger than life' characters such as 'Fat Pierre', 'Auntie Tresken' and her granddaughter 'Sharon'.
But at the same time, viewers were confronted with the cold hard reality: the story of Wendy for instance, who faught and struggled to get a Welfare-income, is “gripping” and “shocking”.
