Peking Express
8 couples participate in a spectacular elimination race! They have to cross continents, but have to do it on a budget of just 1 dollar per day! They have to find their own means of transportation (hitchhike!) and sleeping arrangements!
In the first series they have to go from Moscow crossing the Ural mountains, Siberia, Mongolia all the way to Peking (Beijing)! In 12 stages they travel a distance of over 10.000 kilometers
During each stage the participating couples have the opportunity to gain an advantage in the race by competing against each other in local games such as truck racing, rafting, salt digging, standing on poles on the Great Wall of China… At the end of each stage the last ranking couple is dropped from the race. At the end 2 couples will reach their final destination, Peking, where they will compete for a considerable sum of prize money.
Airing in The Netherlands and Belgium since 2003, Peking Express is Kanakna’s international hit format. Local versions were or are being made in Germany, France, Sweden, Denmark, Norway etc..
The first Peking Express series –known as ‘The Trans-Siberian Route’- took the contestants from Moscow to Beijing. The second series -called ‘The Himalayan Route’- took them from Beijing to Bombay. ‘The Mekong Route’ took them from Vietnam to Lhassa in Tibet following the Mekong River. The fourth season will be in South America...
